President McClains request for Needs not expected to be funded by Biennium Budget Appropriation

Clyde presented the baccalaureate program at a recent ILWU meeting. Interest coming from union to work with us in transition & identified challenges they have. We need to mobilize the same way we did for the Island of Lanai.

The Renaissance Hotel will be closed for renovation displacing many workers. They are working with OCET to provide training for these workers as they transition, either into other positions within this company or as they seek positions on the side. Suzette was asked to follow up if theyre taking advantage of Federal resources available & to pursue union partnerships.

EOC is playing an increasing roll in interpreting what it is we are offering here at the college and to our community.

Need to review funding priorities. Electricity and infrastructure will be presented to the president for consideration. The Native Hawaiian priority is already been established as a priority.

President Bushs Community-Based Job Training Initiative Grant Program

Vaughn Baker is statewide coordinator and he has already talked with Lois and Suzette.

Neighbor island community colleges might want to get together to identify needs and work together

Program review and Program Health Indicator Presentation and Discussion

Need to complete all the program review presentations and identify which need to be rescheduled.

Will ask flo to present her program health indicators presentation for the next meeting.

OCET already taking action on recommendations and utilizing funds given. Wally hired to review financial piece. No additional money is being requested.

Need to identify program review process needs and health indicators and how it will impact budget decisions

Sustainability Award

It was agreed that Mr.& Mrs. Dorvin Leis be recognized at our 2005 commencement for the contributions they have made.

Akaku Status

We have formally requested that the funds be transmitted to us. The DCCA has also inquired on the status of the funds for the college and the DOE.

Another formal meeting will be held within the next couple weeks.

Maui County: Mayors Proposal and Opportunity to Testify Next Monday Morning

There are two opportunities to testify for Maui County support. It was suggested that Student Government be involved as well.

BOR Testimony re: Tuition

According to Alvin, our testimony is to support the tuition increase which will strengthen our schedule and the general Ed type courses.

Students are signing a petition today supporting the increase.

WASC Feedback and Presence at Meeting in June

We wish to retain our flexibility through the Rural Development Project.  We will be meeting with the leadership in Philadelphia and DC in San Francisco to create a new template for RDP funding.  The Senators office has created language so the job skills now contain language for Alaska and Hawaii.  It includes the mentioning of unique populations.  Resources will come in the future not through RDP, but will come to the jobs filled that are directed to the college.

Vice President of Community Colleges Allocations of Resources

          Clyde asked for brainstorming ideas

Other

Pat Date for 100 centennial, Spring of 2007

Suzette Library IV position will be vacated soon & expressed consideration to be filled.
