ALOHA!
The Educational Opportunity Center
Interested in college but unsure of where to begin?
EOC admissions advisers make navigating the world of college applications, majors, financial aid, and scholarships easy. EOC has been helped more than 40,000 residents meet their college and career goals. Many have gone on to college, some to graduate school, and others into careers they would have never dreamed possible before.
REQUEST FOR SERVICES
The EOC is a federally-funded TRIO program whose mission is to increase the college enrollment of disadvantaged Maui County residents. As a US Department of Education grant-funded program, EOC is required to document our services. A Request for Services form is required for each student. Download the form, complete, and submit it to EOC. For dependent students, we will require the following:- Dependent students are required to provide a parent signature on their EOC Client intake form verifying income.
- We use the Federal Financial Aid dependency criteria to determine dependency. A student is considered a dependent of their parents if they cannot answer “yes” to any of the following questions:
- Will you be 24 years old or older by January 1 of the year you are completing this form?
- As of today are you married?
- Are you in a masters, doctorate, or post-baccalaureate certificate program?
- Are you currently on active duty in the military?
- Are you a veteran?
- Do you have children who receive more than half their support from you?
- Do you have dependents who live with you and receive more than half their support from you?
- At any time since you turned 13, were you an orphan, in foster care, or a ward of the court?
- Are you or were you an emancipated minor?
- Are you or were you in legal guardianship in your state of residence?
- Did your high school homeless liaison determine that you were an unaccompanied youth who was homeless?
- Did a director of an emergency shelter or transitional housing program funded by the US Dept. of Housing and Urban Development determine that you were an unaccompanied youth who was homeless?
- Did a director of a runaway or homeless youth basic center or transitional living program determine that you were an unaccompanied youth who was homeless or were self-supporting and at risk of being homeless?
‘Don’t just dream it, live it.”
