Almeida Graduation

Whitney relocated to Maui from Honolulu to get away from negative peer influence.  She graduated from high school in 2004 and dreamt of becoming a registered nurse. Whitney was in search of resources to go to college since she had no family support or adequate finances.

During her search, Whitney found what she was looking for in the Ku`ina Program. Not only was Ku`ina able to offer her financial assistance, they offered emotional support as well. Whitney began attending the University of Hawaii Maui College in the fall of 2004.

In 2008, Whitney not only earned her Licensed Practical Nurse Certificate, but she graduated with her Associate in Arts in Nursing. Because of her diligence, desire and motivation, she has been able to overcome some of life’s difficulties and is achieving her goal in becoming a Certified Registered Nurse. Whitney is the perfect example of how the Ku`ina Program strives to assist motivated students, who just need some extra help, reach their goals and dreams.
