Wireless Internet Access

Please note that some laptops may not be compatible with MCC's Access Points (AP).

Configure the Wireless NIC:

1. Turn on laptop switch for Wireless NIC if needed.
2. Right-click on My Network Places and click Properties.
3. Right-click Wireless Network Connection and click Properties.
4. Go to Wireless Networks (2nd tab).
5. Check Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings.
6. Uncheck The key is provided for me automatically.
7. Click Add… under Preferred networks.
8. Enter the Network name (SSID).
9. Set Network Authentication to Open.
10. Set Data encryption to WEP
(try ASCII first, otherwise use HEX).
11. Enter the Network key.
12. Once done, click OK.

*SSID and password can be obtained by logging iinto www.hawaii.edu/account.

Access the Internet:

1. Open a web browser. You will be redirected to an authentication page where you must enter your UH user ID and password before you may use the internet.

Having trouble accessing?

If you have Internet Explorer 7 you may need to enable SSL 2.0:
Tools - Internet Options - Advacned Tab - Use SSL 2.0

If you have Windows Vista, download Firefox 2.0 and perform the following:
1) Type about:config in the address bar
2) Type security.enable_ssl2 in the filter field
3) Double click all the entries so the values are true
