Other Professional Activities

I am an active composer and recording artist, engineer, liner note annotator and graphic artist, and am a two-time Nā Hōkū Hanohano award-winning producer of compilation albums of my students.
Active member of the Society of Ethnomusicology and Internation Council for Traditional Music, frequent presenter at their conferences.
Am a graduate of the University of Hawai‘i's year-long PELP (President’s Emerging Leaders Program) in 2017.
Have had multiple academic articles published in journals such as Hūlili, Ethnomusicology Review, Perfect Beat, Language Documentation & Conservation, Cultural Survival, and Computer Assisted Language Learning Journal. Also published book reviews in In Journal of American History and Palapala: A Journal for Hawaiian Language and Literature.
Co-authored a chapter in ”New Domains for Indigenous Language Acquisition and Use in the USA and Canada” in the book Indigenous Language Revitalization In The Americas. Edited by Serafín M. Coronel-Molina, Teresa L. McCarty published in 2016.
Currently authoring a book on the role that musical activism has played in the struggle for Maunakea, and have signed a contract with University of Indiana Press for its publication in late-2021 or early 2023
